MPs hail advances in LGBT+ rights, call on government to ban conversion therapy

The House of Commons today held a backbench business debate to mark Pride Month. Labour MP Dame Angela Eagle and Conservative MP Elliot Colburn put forward the debate.

Speaking in the debate, Labour MP Ben Bradshaw said: “We’ve come a long way, haven’t we, since I was the first parliamentary candidate to be selected as openly gay and my Conservative opponent at the time said that homosexuality was a disease ridden, sterile occupation?”.
