For 100 years, NARPO has provided an important voice for retired police officers across England and Wales, as well as their widows, widowers and former partners.

Representing more than 89,000 members, NARPO is one of the largest public sector pensioner organisations in the country. Its aim is to safeguard the rights of members and to promote measures for their welfare, with particular regard to pensions. Formed in 1919, NARPO is a branch-led organisation with headquarters in Wakefield. Governance is provided by a National Executive Committee (NEC), who are elected on a regional basis. Rules and policy are considered at the annual NARPO conference, held in September.

As part of the campaigning group Later Life Ambitions, NARPO works in partnership with the National Federation of Occupational Pensioners and the Civil Service Pensioners’ Alliance to support older people to lead active and independent lives. Through this partnership NARPO has a strong voice, with Later Life Ambitions bringing together over a quarter of a million pensioners.

As part of NARPO’s work with Later Life Ambitions we campaign for fair pensions, safe and sustainable care services, accessible housing and services to promote independence.

NARPO is also an active member of the Public Service Pensioners Council and AGE, a European Platform for Older people.
