Windrush scandal ‘one of the most shameful episodes in our post-war political history’, says Kinnock

Shadow minister for immigration Stephen Kinnock was granted an urgent question on Tuesday on the progress the government has made in implementing the recommendations of the Windrush Lessons Learned Review.

Mr Kinnock said: “The reality is that this government’s treatment of the Windrush generation is surely one of the most shameful episodes in our post-war political history. Those, the Windrush community played a pivotal role in rebuilding Britain”.

Minister for safeguarding Sarah Dines responded: “Since the injustices of Windrush came to light, there has been a concerted effort across the Home Office to right the wrongs suffered by those affected. This work continues in the department”.
