Government must correct for ‘failures’ in Afghanistan, say MPs

MPs have debated “pathway three” of the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS).

DUP MP Jim Shannon, who put forward the Westminster Hall debate, said: “It has been reported by the BBC, that fewer than ten staff in the FDCO are working on the [Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme]. In contrast, there is a team of 50 … working on behalf of Ukrainians. But why not for these people as well?”.

Shadow minister Lyn Brown said: “This debate is about the duty that we as a country owe to the people in danger because of their work with us. It’s about making good just a tiny part of the damage wrecked by the government’s failures in Afghanistan”.
