DEFRA brushes off ‘dirty man of Europe’ label

Under secretary of DEFRA Steve Double has dismissed claims from Labour’s Rupa Huq that the UK is the “dirty man of Europe”, following Brexit, with sewage spills in rivers as well as on beaches.

Huq also noted that the minister for Brexit opportunities was no longer a role filled.

Double explained that it is only because of the measures that this government have put in place that the sewage problems have been identified. He said “we are now the first government ever to take action to solve this problem”.
