Some turned away at polling stations without voter ID ‘can’t be recorded’, reveals Betts

Labour MP and chair of the levelling up, housing and communities select committee today raised a point of order questioning how the government intend to record the impact of the imposition of voter ID at the upcoming local elections.

Mr Betts said: “So what the Electoral Commission are going to do is to publish two sets of data, one from polling stations without metres greeters and one with meeters greeters. How can that be a sensible and coordinated information collection to show what the impact of this measure actually is?”.
