MPs intervene on decision by Church of England Bishops to uphold same-sex marriage ban

After the Church of England’s announcement that bishops would uphold its historical teaching that marriage is between one man and one woman, Labour MP Ben Bradshaw was granted an urgent question on the matter.

The question was directed at the Second Church Estates Commissioner Andrew Selous.

Speaking following the urgent question, Labour MP Sir Chris Bryant said: “Did Jesus say a single word about same sex relationships or marriage? I don’t think he did. He said a great deal about love, the God of love”.
