Lucy Powell accuses Lord Cameron of ‘dodging scrutiny’ as Greensill links raised

Responding to the business statement today delivered by leader of the House of Commons Penny Mordaunt, Lucy Powell accused foreign secretary Lord Cameron of “dodging scrutiny”.

She said: “It’s not just his lordship dodging scrutiny. It’s their tried and tested tactic on every front. Day by day, they are eroding the conventions of this place with their cavalier approach to scrutiny and good government”.

Lord Cameron’s Greensill links were also raised as Powell pressed for an investigation by the Treasury select committee.

Penny Mordaunt responded: “She will know that there is a senior Foreign Office minister available to lead on matters. … But the foreign secretary himself has been very forward leaning on this and he has suggested a number of things that he thinks is highly appropriate at how he can be held to account in this place and directly by members of this House”.
