Keir Starmer accuses the Conservative Party of ‘dancing to Nigel Farage’s tune’

Speaking at prime minister’s question on Wednesday afternoon, Labour leader Keir Starmer accused the Conservative Party of “dancing to Nigel Farage’s tune”.

Starmer asked the prime minister: “When will he ever stand up to [his backbenchers] and end the pathetic spectacle of a Tory party that used to try and beat Nigel Farage, now giving up and dancing to his tune?”

Rishi Sunak responded: “[That is] utterly shameless from someone who stood by while antisemitism ran rife in his party, oversaw the appalling situation in Rochdale and twice backed the member for Islington North [Jeremy Corbyn]”.

PMQs verdict: Keir Starmer takes on Farage and Truss, the conservative cranks
