Government committed to funding 40 new hospitals by 2030, health secretary says

Secretary of state for health and social care Steve Barclay today made a ministerial statement to the commons on the government’s plan to build 40 new hospitals by 2030.

He said: “In 2019, we committed to the biggest hospital building programme in a generation and today we confirmed the funding to build 40 hospitals by 2030”.

Labour spokesperson Wes Streeting responded: “I do wonder whether or not at this stage in the life cycle of 13 years of Conservative government, the public might have just begun to see through the overpromising and under-delivering because the NHS state is crumbling after 13 years of their neglect across England”.
