Foreign Office rejects ‘alienated’ UK label

During foreign affairs questions, Labour’s Barry Sheerman questioned the government’s understanding of the way that the UK is “alienated and isolated” from traditional European partners and the United States.

Sheerman also questioned the helpfulness of negative comments made by incoming PM Liz Truss towards France and its president Emmanuel Macron.

Under secretary Rahman Chishti rejected this claim that the UK have alienated global partners, referencing the UK’s support of Ukraine and leadership in tackling climate change.
