East of England infrastructure has become ‘a joke’, says Priti Patel

In a Westminster Hall debate today, MPs debated progress towards the Government’s levelling up missions in the East of England.

The debate was put forward by Conservative MP Peter Aldous, who co-chairs the East of England All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG)

Speaking in the debate, former home secretary Priti Patel said: “Now, first and foremost, infrastructure – that clearly covers road and rail – it’s become a joke, quite frankly. … This is a failure of Whitehall and the entire Whitehall system to actually work across government departments to integrate funding”.
