Commons marks International Women’s Day with debate

The House of Commons today held a debate to mark International Women’s Day.

Speaking for the government in the debate, minister for women Maria Caulfield spoke of women who had inspired her: “Women such as Margaret Thatcher, the first female prime minister who broke that glass ceiling. … I’m [also] not afraid to compliment and to pay my tributes to opposition females because for me a personal heroine was Mo Mowlam”
