Blackford and Raab react to intended Scottish independence referendum

During questions to the deputy prime minister, SNP leader Ian Blackford asked Dominic Raab to defend the union of the UK and Scotland following Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement that she intends to hold a Scottish independence referendum in 2023.

Raab told the House of Commons that “it’s not the right time for another referendum given the challenges that we face as one United Kingdom”.

Blackford declared that Raab and the government had “run out of ideas to defend the failing Westminster system”.
