News leaves Fleet Street

The final death knell for Fleet Street has tolled with the news that the last news giant has departed.

Reuters has followed other legendry operations such as The Mirror, The Independent and The Telegraph to the gleaming towers of Canary Wharf.

Reuters had been in Fleet Street for 66 years.

To commemorate the move a service will be held in June in St Bride, the journalists’ church close to 85 Fleet Street.

Only the publishers of the Beano, DC Thomson & Co, remains in the street that used to house all of the UK’s top newspapers.
