US troops seize ‘Chemical Sally’

US troops have seized one of Saddam Hussein’s top biological weapons scientists.

Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash, was ranked at number 53 among the top 55 most wanted members of Saddam Hussein’s fallen regime. Her card number was the five of hearts.

Chemical ‘Sally’ was taken into custody on Sunday, and was believed to have played a key role in rebuilding Iraq’s biological weapons.

She was one of the few women within Hussein’s inner-circle and was often seen in videos showing the regime at work during the Iraqi conflict.

Dr Ammash graduated from the University of Baghdad and more recently served as its dean.

In addition, she gained a masters degree in microbiology from Texas Woman’s University.

According to US officials she was trained by Nassir al-Hindawi, described by United Nations inspectors as the father of Iraq’s biological weapons program.
