Speaking to Sky News, vaccine secretary Nadhim Zahawi has not denied that in October ‘firebreak’ restrictions may need to be introduced if the booster jab programme – which Sajid Javid has maintained will be rolled-out this month – does not go “well”.
However, he later said that he has seen no plans for an October “firebreak” lockdown if cases rise this autumn.
