5:30pm –Â And that’s all from us today! Join us tomorrow for more news and updates.
4:52pm –Â It’ll be interesting to see if there are any repercussions from this statement from the speaker:
"I am being misled. This House is being misled."
Serious allegations being made by the Speaker about the conduct of the government. https://t.co/zMvmomfVaU

4:34pm –Â The quote below from Sir Lindsay Hoyle showing how angry the speaker of the house is that Johnson is announcing the delays to lockdown to the media rather than parliament.
I find it totally unacceptable that once again we see Downing St running roughshod over members of parliament – we are not accepting it – I am beginning to look for other avenues if they’re not going to take this House seriously says the Speaker

3:25pm –Â Former Labour MP George Galloway calls on his old party to step down in the Batley by-election, calling it a two horse race between himself and the Tories. Something tells me they won’t listen much to that warning.
Galloway signage everywhere in Batley and Spen. Delivering leaflets claiming it’s a two horse race and calling on Labour to drop out. pic.twitter.com/JQUaiTbR6F

2:39pm –Â With a lockdown extension likely, this could spell trouble for many businesses.
Rishi Sunak rejects calls by businesses for furlough extension https://t.co/KbmvL4MNjt

2:04pm –Â Seems increasingly likely that opening day will be delayed. I guess we’ll all have to stay inside and watch the Euros for a little while longer…
Labour will back the four week delay to lockdown lifting step 4
They will will characterise it as a consequence of Boris Johnson’s mishandling and criticise lack of economic support
Keir Starmer had briefing from gvt scientists earlier

12:26pm –Â Starmer hits out at NI/UK hard border. The statement seems at odds with Labour’s position on the matter in December, but perhaps hints at a move towards a free trade proposal from Starmer:
Keir Starmer’s statement *seems* to suggest no checks are possible on GB to NI transit
There have long been some SPS checks for instance, so that’s undoing the pre Jan 1 position
And appears to go further than Boris Johnson

11:45am –Â Three years on from the Grenfell tragedy, there are still hundreds of buildings built with the same cladding.
4 years to the day since the catastrophe at Grenfell. There remain scores and scores of buildings which are potentially unsafe and where leaseholders being asked to pick up the pieces, on cladding but much else besides. 👇 https://t.co/4hV3PYvSc3

11:07am –Â Not a great look for the president as he repeatedly mixes up Libya and Syria:
Apparently Blinken confirmed the President had the wrong country. He meant Syria despite mentioning Libya quite a lot. He painted a vivid picture of what was wrong in Libya, the passes and lack of food. Apologies & thank you @andygawt https://t.co/CmsR3d3iI7

9:50am –Â As mentioned earlier, the Northern Ireland protocol and hard border with the EU has been a consistent theme over the past few weeks, semi-jokingly named the ‘sausage wars’.
Sausage wars?
Sir Keir: "The PM said there wouldn't be checks. Either he hadn't read it or knew perfectly well that wouldn't be the case. We need to remind the PM that he signed on the dotted line."
Says there'll have to be "flexibility on both sides".

9:02am –Â A typically comprehensive summary by BBC’s Lewis Goodall on the main takeaways so far from the G7, notably the spend spend spend attitude:
Main takeaways from G7 (🧵)
1) we’re all spenders now: the economics were perhaps the least remarked upon bit of the summit but perhaps the most remarkable. The consensus in the West now is that spending and stimulus should continue and is necessary. There is no major…
