Wes Streeting tells ‘Mr Consistent’ Steve Barclay to abolish ‘non-dom’ tax status to fund NHS

During Health and Social Care Department questions today, Labour spokesperson Wes Streeting questioned the secretary of state over his  “Mr Consistent” nickname, which was reported last week by an article in the i newspaper.

Mr Streeting said: “According to the i newspaper his supporters are calling him Mr. Consistent. Is that because of the consistent rise in waiting lists since he became health secretary, the consistently longer waiting times that patients are facing, or is it the consistent delay to the NHS workforce plan?”.

Health secretary Steve Barclay responded: “The point of consistency, is we gave a manifesto commitment to have 26,000 additional roles in primary care and we have delivered that”.
