Sunak and Reeves exchange personal blows as they debate cost of living

In the main frontbench exchange on Tuesday morning’s business, chancellor Rishi Sunak and shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves exchanged personal blows as they discussed the cost of living in the UK.

Reeves highlighted reports showing the “pay for the top 1% of earners increasing at 20 times the rate than for the bottom 10%”, before reminding the chancellor that these working people taxes in Britain.

Sunak listed the measures that the government has put in place for cost of living support but pointed to Reeves’ office in which he “heard perhaps she isn’t quite paying her own staff properly”.
