Steve Barclay accused of spreading falsehoods over NHS junior doctors’ pay dispute

During health and social care department questions today, Labour spokesperson Wes Streeting challenged the secretary of state to settle the ongoing pay dispute with junior doctors.

Mr Streeting said: “Why isn’t he sat down with them today? He says he can’t negotiate because the BMA won’t budge on 35%. But that’s not true, is it?”.

Steve Barclay responded: “We have shown through our negotiation with the NHS staff Council our willingness to get and to reach a settlement, indeed, the General Secretary of the RCN recommended the deal from the NSC to her members”.
