Starmer leads debate on ‘honesty, integrity and telling the truth’

Labour leader Keir Starmer led the privilege debate on whether prime minister Boris Johnson is guilty of contempt, telling the House of Commons that this is a debate on “honesty, integrity and telling the truth”.

Starmer shared his fear that the misleading of parliament is making democracy “weaker”.

The Labour leader warned that if MPs choose for the prime minister not to be scrutinised by the privilege committee, “we will be the parliament that failed”.
