Speaker blasts government for slow response to urgent death penalty issues

In a point of order, Bath MP Wera Hobhouse seeked advice from the Speaker of the House, Sir Lindsey Hoyle, regarding the family member of her constituent, who required UK government help as they face the death penalty.

The Speaker told the House that he hoped that the issue can be “speedily resolved, especially in the case of a crisis”.

Hoyle then called for a government that “supports members of parliament”, finishing his statement by saying “come on, let’s all work together”.
