Minister uncertain when pressed on whether social care reforms will definitely go ahead in October 2025

During a Health and Social Care Select Committee, Minister Helen Whately was asked about the planned reforms to social care due to occur in October 2025.

Chairman Steve Brine was sceptical of the date, saying that it had been pushed-back multiple times and asking the Minister how certain she was that these reforms were ‘set in stone’.

Whately said that the question was ‘too hypothetical’ and that she couldn’t predict what would happen in a future spending period.
