Minister says ‘no’ to making misogyny a hate crime

In Oral Questions about women and inequalities, the Liberal Democrat MP for Bath, Wera Hobhouse, put forward a case for making misogyny a hate crime. She argues that victims of the likes of Wayne Couzens would have been protected if this had been the case, and that misogyny is the gateway to more serious gender related crimes.

The Minister Sarah Dines says it should happen, and declares that the Law Commissioner deems it unnecessary and even suggests it could make things worse for women.
