Labour urges the government to ‘seize not just freeze’ Russian state assets

During foreign, commonwealth and development department questions today, Labour spokesperson Stephen Doughty asked the secretary of state about the seizure of Russian assets.

Mr Doughty asked: “When will the foreign secretary set out a clear plan to seize not just freeze Russian state assets?”

Secretary of state James Cleverly replied: “It is not as easy as his question implies. The fact is there has been conflicts around the world before. There have been perpetrators before – there has never been a seizure of assets”.
