Labour presses government to provide a ‘safe sanctuary to victims of Putin’

During home office questions, shadow minister for the Home Office Stephen Kinnock asked Kevin Foster of the Home Office when the UK government would provide a “swift, well-managed and safe sanctuary to victims of Putin’s barbarity”.

Kinnock referred to a tweet made by the minister for safe and legal migration, who suggested that Ukrainian migrants “should apply to come to the UK on the basis of seasonal fruit picker visas”. This tweet was later deleted.

Foster told the shadow minister to wait for an announcement from the Home Secretary.
