Government puts fossil fuel profits before families, Miliband argues

During energy security and net zero department questions today, Labour spokesperson Ed Miliband asked the minister, Amanda Solloway, about the UK government’s record on fuel poverty.

Mr Miliband said: “Isn’t the truth that the reason people are sick and tired of this government is that they put the balance sheet of fossil fuel companies ahead of the family budgets of the British people”.

Ms Solloway responded: “I would like to remind the right honourable gentleman that we have been paying half of household energy bills”.
