Foreign secretary confirms that 22 of the 24 NHS doctors said to be stranded in Sudan have been evacuated

During foreign office questions today, Labour spokesperson David Lammy asked the secretary of state James Cleverly about the evacuation of NHS doctors from Sudan.

Mr Lammy asked: “Can the Foreign Secretary confirm that all 24 and any other NHS doctors who would be evacuated were taken safely back to the UK?”.

Mr Cleverly responded: “My understanding is that 22 of the 24 that were identified have been directly evacuated”.
