Bryant asks immigration minister to ‘correct the record’ on asylum backlog figure under last Labour government

Labour MP Sir Chris Bryant today raised a point of order asking for the immigration minister Robert Jenrick to clarify the figures on the asylum backlog under the last Labour government.

Sir Chris said: “There is a formal process whereby ministers, not backbench MP only ministers can correct the record, which means that the original statement in the record in Hansard is corrected. Could you explain what that process is, and could the Minister finally now admit that the figure for June 2010 was not 450,000, as he said, but 18,954?”.
