Parties called on to access the disabled vote

Leading disability organisation Scope has launched an advertising campaign designed to challenge the commitment of political parties to ending ‘disablism’.

The latest Time to get equal adverts aim to raise political awareness of the discrimination disabled Britons face.

The new advert features Chloe Flatman, a disabled Scope supporter, under the words “Why should I vote for your party?” and points political campaigners to the organisation’s manifesto.

The organisation also pointed out that 69 per cent of polling stations in the 2001 general election failed a basic access test rendering them inaccessible to many of the UK’s ten million disabled adults.
