Englishman Barry Beadle has been imprisoned for five years for travelling to the US to have sex with a schoolgirl he met online.

Beadle met the 14-year-old girl in an internet chatroom and was aware she was under 15, according to FBI agent Thomas J Reinwart.

The 52-year old mobile disco DJ from Ainsdale, Merseyside, was instructed to undergo mental health treatment and a sex offender programme by a judge in Des Moines, Iowa.

Beadle pleaded guilty in September to having sex with a minor and inducing a minor to have sex.

He spent several nights at a hotel in Iowa with the girl.

Beadle has been in prison in Lee County since his arrest last April.

Mr Beadle’s lawyer said his client was “extremely remorseful and embarrassed of his actions”.
