Two women injured on QM2.

Two women were taken from the QM2 yesterday after they broke bones in two separate falls.

65-year old Ruth Perl from Cobham in Surrey, the mother of Cunard’s marketing director, suffered a broken hip when she fell on the dance floor during a New Year party.

And 69-year old Toos Seheepers from the Netherlands broke a leg as she was boarding the ship on Wednesday evening.

The two women were taken to Torbay Hospital in Torquay, south Devon, after the coastguard received calls at 2330 GMT New Year’s Eve and two hours later on New Year’s Day.

Their condition last night was described as “comfortable.”

The vessel is due back in Southampton on Friday.

The Queen Mary 2 is set to be named by the Queen on 12 January.
