Two further arrests in ‘hotel rape’ case

Scotland Yard has announced that two men were arrested on Friday in conjunction with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in a London hotel.

The alleged incident took place at the Grosvenor House hotel in London’s Knightsbridge on September 27th and involved a group of Premiership footballers.

A 22-year-old and a 19-year-old were arrested after they attended separate London police stations, Scotland Yard said in a statement.

Both men remain in police custody.

The latest arrests brings the total number of arrests related to the investigation to four.

A 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, neither of whom are footballers, were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Both men have been released on bail.

The 29-year-old issued a statement through his lawyer denying any wrongdoing.

It is not known whether the men arrested on Friday are footballers and Scotland Yard has declined to comment further.

Scotland Yard has not named any footballers or clubs in connection with the allegations and has asked the media to refrain from doing so.
