‘God Save the Queen’ trending in Ukraine after transfer of British arms deliveries

‘God Save the Queen’ is trending on Ukrainian Twitter following the delivery of British arms to the region. It comes as Russia has stationed up to 100,000 troops on the Russia-Ukraine border.

A group of about 30 elite British troops arrived in Ukraine to help train Ukrainian armed forces to operate the anti-tank weapons gifted to the country by the UK. Some 2,000 anti-tank missile launchers have also been airlifted to the country.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told MPs on Monday that the UK is putting all its effort into helping the Ukrainians defend themselves. He said: ” … we are putting all the effort in helping Ukraine help themselves, sanctions packages and diplomatic efforts”.

Commenting on the new Twitter trend, Chief Secretary to the Treasury Simon Clarke MP said this was “Global Britain at work”.
