David Lammy opens up about pandemic health scare

Labour’s shadow foreign secretary David Lammy revealed he “ended up in a bad place” earlier this year, after opening up about his own mental and physical health struggles during the pandemic.

During his LBC show, Lammy confessed in Easter he had a colon cancer scare and was struggling with poor mental health at the time.

Lammy confessed: “I wasn’t feeling great, I wasn’t feeling good at all.”

The shadow foreign secretary said the effects of lockdown took its toll.

“I was stuck largely in my office at home and it was driving me mad”, Lammy said.

The shadow foreign secretary said his inability to meet face-to-face put him in a “bad place”, but he stated exercise was a key route to his recovery.

Lammy stated his regular 5k runs with his wife gave him an “incredible high”.
