British troops deployed to Poland amid Belarus border crisis

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence has said a small team of British soldiers have been deployed to Poland amid the ongoing crisis on its border with Belarus.

They said it follows “an agreement with the Polish government to explore how we can provide engineering support to address the ongoing situation at the Belarus border.”

This comes after Polish prime minister Mteusz Morawiecki and various other leaders accused Belarus’s authoritarian leader Alexander Lukashenko , backed by Russian premier Vladimir Putin, of sending migrants to the Polish border due to fury over EU sanctions on the Lukashenko regime.

Around 2,000 migrants remain at the border where there are currently sub-zero temperatures.

A former Lukashenko regime insider has claimed Belarus has deliberately trained Afghan and Iraqi war veterans to carry out armed attacks on the border with Poland.
