Bill Clinton under monitoring after “non-Covid-related infection”

Bill Clinton has been hospitalised due to a “non-Covid-related infection”, a spokesman has said.

According to Angel UreƱa, the former US President, 75 is “on the mend” and “in good spirits” after being admitted to hospital in California on Tuesday.

In a statement, his doctors said Mr Clinton, who served as President from 1993 to 2001, remained at the hospital for monitoring.

“After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well,ā€ they explained.

In 1998 he was impeached after lying to investigators about an affair with 21-year-old intern Monica Lewinsky but was acquitted at his trial in the Senate.

He has a history of heart issues, having received a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and a clogged artery opened in 2014.
