Foreign aid cuts: ‘An unethical and unlawful betrayal’

 

Andrew Mitchell launched an attack on the government in the House of Commons this afternoon, claiming that its attempts to block a vote on the proposed cuts to the foreign aid budget were ‘undemocratic’.

The MP for Sutton Coldfield described the government’s behaviour as ‘fundamentally un-British’.

A spokesperson for the prime minister suggested that the government had no plans to bring forward a vote on cuts to international aid.
