Alex Cunningham

Biography

Alex Cunningham was elected as Labour MP for Stockton North on May 6th 2010 with a majority of 6676.

Alex has been a Cleveland County or Stockton Borough Councillor for 17 of the last 20 years and was Cabinet Member for Children and Young People.

A journalist by profession, he worked in newspapers and radio before a career in communications and public relations finishing as Head of Communications for Transco, the gas pipeline company. Seven years ago he set up his own public relations and web design business.

Alex is a member of the One North East regional development agency board and a non executive director of the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

His main political interests are provision for young people including education, health, employment. community development and arts, leisure and culture.

Alex has been married to Evaline for 32 years and they have two adult sons, John and Andrew.
