‘Cumbria coal mine would shatter UK COP26 credibility’

Tim Farron has warned that approval for a new coal mine in Cumbria will damage the UK hosting COP26 in November.

The proposed new mine in Whitehaven is being re-examined by Cumbria County Council after widespread dismay at the decision to approve the project.

Mr Farron, a Cumbria-based MP, says the project makes COP26 president Alok Sharma look like an ‘absolute hypocrite’ on the international stage.
