Linden, David

David Linden is the Scottish National Party MP for Glasgow East, having first been elected to Parliament in 2017. He was reelected in 2019 with a majority of 5,566.

Glasgow East was once a Labour stronghold, but having briefly been won by the SNP in a 2008 by-election, it has been held by the SNP consistently since 2015.   Celtic Football club is based in this constituency.

David Linden has previously served as the SNP Welfare spokesperson, and as the SNP Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government at Westminster.  He stood down from the front bench in March 2022.

Born in 1990, David Linden left school at 16 to undertake an apprenticeship in Business Administration with Glasgow City Council.  He then worked for Glasgow Credit Union.

Before being elected to Parliament, Linden worked for the Scottish National Party for 9 years, as a researcher to SNP politicians in Westminster, Holyrood, and Brussels.

David Linden is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Nutrition for Growth, and Premature and Sick Babies.  He  is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Belgium, Greenland, Luxembourg, Tunisia, Faith and Society, Food and Drink, and Social Media.

Linden has two sons, and is a keen angler.  He supports Airdrieonians Football Club.
