Streeting urges minister to abolish non-dom tax status to fund NHS workforce expansion

During health and social care department questions today, the shadow secretary of state Wes Streeting asked the minister to adopt Labour’s plan and fund an expansion in the NHS workforce by getting rid of non-dom tax status.

Mr Streeting said: “Why won’t the Government adopt Labour’s plan to double medical school places paid for by abolishing the non-dom tax status? So patients have the doctors they need to get treated on time?”.

The minister replied: “Now we are taking real action on this issue. Real term spending is up more than a fifth since 2016”.
