Sheerman on funding a green future: ‘Where’s the money, honey?’

During questions to the COP26 president Alok Sharma, Labour’s Barry Sheerman passionately called on the president to “shake the chancellor until his teeth waggle, and get the money that he should be putting into environmental concerns”.

Labelling Sharma “too nice”, Sheerman told the House that it was less about plans but more a question of “where’s the money, honey?”.

The COP26 president highlighted the £30 billion of government investment in the “green industrial revolution” and the “tens of millions” yet to come from private investment.
