PM refuses to comment on when he first knew of Met Police strip search scandal

During prime minister’s questions, Labour MP Helen Hayes asked the prime minister Boris Johnson when he first heard of the strip search of child Q in her own school by the Metropolitan Police.

Hayes went further, asking Johnson whether “the characteristic dither and delay of his government in responding to the case is remotely acceptable”.

Johnson responded by describing the reports “distressing and concerning” but told the House that while the IOPC is investigating the matter, “it would not be right to comment further”.
