Phillips blasts Ellis for misuse of standards

Labour MP Jess Phillips blasted cabinet minister Michael Ellis for “using bodies of the standards in this House” that look after victims “to get out of saying untruths”.

Phillips also referred MPs to the government’s “Enough” campaign, telling Ellis that “it doesn’t say wait ‘til the completely independent enquiry has gone on whilst you’re in a pub with a gropey man”.

When asked what he would expect if he and Phillips’ positions were reversed, Ellis told the House that he would expect her to act “fairly. Full stop”.
