New bill would move to increase financial support for parents of children receiving care in hospital for extended periods

The Conservative MP Sir Oliver Heald today proposed a 10 minute rule bill which, if passed, would compel ministers to examine the advantages of offering financial assistance to parents whose children undergo prolonged hospital care.

Introducing his bill, Sir Oliver said: “In this bill, I’m asking for a report to be made to parliament by the secretary of state on the merits of providing financial support for parents of children receiving care in hospital for extended periods”.
