Jeremy Hunt: ‘Mortgage holders in Selby or Uxbridge will pay more under Labour’

During Treasury questions today, Labour spokesperson Rachel Reeves pressed the chancellor Jeremy Hunt on the “Tory mortgage penalty”.

Ms Reeves said: “In Uxbridge and South Ruislip. 10,000 households will be paying on average £5,200 more each. And every family knows who is responsible for trashing the economy. It is the Conservative Party”.

Mr Hunt responded: “Let me say that those mortgage holders in Selby or Uxbridge or Mid Bedfordshire will be paying even more for their mortgages if the government under a Labour Party borrowed £100 billion more in the next”.
