‘If we need ships at sea, not at the port, why are so many currently docked for repairs?’

During Defence Questions, the SNP’s Patrick Grady expressed concerns that not enough defence ships occupied Scottish waters.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace refuted this, and also said that boats needed to be further out at sea not in-port to protect people and to deter Russia.

But whilst Shadow Defence Secretary John Healey agreed that ships needed to be out at sea, he also noted that many UK military ships were currently docked for repairs, and not able to carry out their role.
