Healey pushes Wallace on defence jobs ‘failure’

The main frontbench exchange during defence questions was between secretary Ben Wallace and shadow secretary John Healey.

While Healey praised the defence department’s “continuity” during the government’s troubling times, he pushed Wallace on the “failure” to meet the commitment to 10,000 new defence jobs.

Wallace dismissed this criticism, telling MPs of the “£41.3 billion” investment in defence, which will “generate a number of jobs”.
